Decimal Counterpoint Examples

These are exercises following Fux but adapted to decimal notation. They were all written away from the keyboard and step recorded in. That makes them genuine exercises, not example compositions, and although they can be interesting to listen to the whole lot at once become very tiring. The cantus firmuses are from Fux, adapted to the decimal scale and with some copying errors. If you hear distortion, it's probably because the volume is too high on your MP3 player.

First Species

One note of counterpoint for each note of the cantus firmus. No dissonance, slow and boring, so I didn't bother making the audio files.

Second Species

Two notes of counterpoint for every note of the cantus firmus. Some passing dissonances.

Third Species

Four notes of counterpoint for every note of the cantus firmus. Passing dissonances again.

Decimalized Mohajiras

A kind of mode with decimal inflections that, like decimal counterpoint itself, isn't documented.
